At Home Exercise: Step Ups

Steps ups are a fantastic exercise we use with at home personal training clients all the time.

Instruction:

  1. Be sure to find a solid chair or bench to step up on to and avoid stepping on to something too high (leg bent more than 90 degrees).
  2. Step up and down on one leg and keep your weight on the working leg at the bottom. Don’t transfer weight on to the low leg at the bottom of each rep.
  3. Keep your head over your front foot and stand up tall on each rep.
  4. Hinge at the hips when you step down so you end up hovering over your front thigh.

Step Ups Benefits:

  • Great exercise to tighten, tone and build your butt!
  • Also develops the rest of the leg.
  • Improves overall balance and coordination and good for the back.

Quick Tips:

It’s a good idea to build up to this exercise. It’s not for beginners. Make sure it doesn’t hurt your knees or your ankles and always stand up on to something solid.

That being said, once you can put it into your routine, it can really add to your overall leg strength and aesthetic.
