There’s a variety of outdoor places for mobile personal trainers that you can go get a workout in Toronto but here are some of the best spots that we could come up with.

Just because you go out for a run doesn’t mean you can’t add a few lunges push-ups and dips on the nearby benches. I often routinely do a few chin-ups on a low-hanging branch when I can find one.

Workout Tip: Another trick is to carry a light bungee cord with you so that you can hit your back at the same time. It’s fairly easy to do push-ups and dips outside but sometimes it’s tough to find something to hit our back muscles.

Are back muscles are super important so we want to make sure we hit them during a workout as well.

with that being said, here are a few spots that you can get a workout in around the Toronto area.

Riverside ParkEast -Broadview ave.

Riverside Park is found in downtown’s east end and has amazing trees and surrounding green space making it a perfect spot for a good workout. This is a great spot for at home Toronto personal trainers to take clients and it’s also a great spot for you to get a workout in.

One of the nice things about the park is that it has lots of places where you can hook up a bungee cord or put down a workout mat and do some stretching and enjoy the views.

Workout Tip: If you find the bars too challenging to do a pull-up on, be sure to just hang on them for as long as you can up to 20 to 30 seconds. Hanging off of a bar is extremely good for shoulders and as Toronto personal trainers, we always advocate keeping shoulders limber and highly functional.

Another benefit of the park is that it has a few hills. The park is sloped and this allows to put in some hill work such as running up the hills, lunges, even side stepping up the hills. These are all great forms of cardio and work the glutes, thighs and quads.

As a quick tip, it’s probably best to avoid running down the hill as this is hard on the knees. Use the downhill stretch as a recovery period between sets I’m going up the hill.

Woodbine Beach

Located Just off 1675 Lakeshore Boulevard East, Toronto, Woodbine Beach is another awesome place for a great workout. There are wouldn’t pass you can jog or walk on and there is lots of sand that you can do a workout on.

Sand is one of the best things for our ankles and needs to do a little bit of extra stabilizing. Avoided if you have knee or ankle issues but if you don’t, this can be a great way to strengthen your lower legs and improve your balance.

Workout Tip: Once you’re done your workout, you can always take advantage of the trails throughout the park too. The park also has water bottle filling stations but make sure to bring your own water bottle just in case they’re not open due to covid.

Once you’re done, there’s no better place for a good stretch then on the beach. Pick a time early in the morning or at Sunset and you can really cap a great workout as you watch the sunset and stretch everything out.

Fred Hamilton Outdoor Gym

Located At 155 Roxton Road, the Fred Hamilton outdoor gym is probably one of the coolest outdoor workout spaces that exists in Toronto. As a personal trainer, I’ve always thought outdoor gyms should be a plenty in thinking this Toronto has one.

Most Of the exercise equipment is suitable for a variety of Ages but just be sure to go at your own pace and not overdo it.

Workout Tip: Another quick tip is to make sure you warm up a little bit before hopping on the equipment. Sometimes we get a little excited and want to try right away but we need to remember that our joints don’t have fluid in them and we don’t have much blood circulating so be sure to jog on the spot and do a little bit of joint Mobility for 5 to 7 minutes before you hop on a machine.

Sir Casimir Gzowski Outdoor Gym

Located at 1751 Lakeshore Boulevard, sir Casimir Pulaski Park outdoor gym is a new addition to the most part to the Lake Ontario area and is also a great outdoor gym option just like Fred Hamilton.

The Gzowski Gym includes some step benches at different heights, push up bars, Vault bars pull up bars, hurdles, parallel bars and dip station.

Keep in mind that on the parallel bars even just holding position is an excellent way to stretch the upper neck muscles and work the arm muscles. You don’t have to use all these pieces equipment to their fullest extent. Doing Small exercises on them is just fine to get yourself started.

Bellevue Square Chin Up Bars

Located At 24 Denison Square, Toronto Ontario, Bellevue Square is a great spot if you’re just looking for the basics. There’s some great chin-up bars and open park space for trainers and clients here. Sometimes the nice thing about workout spots like this is that they’re often not as busy.

Workout Tip: Believe it or not, push ups, Chin-ups and squats are probably the most fundamental exercises you can do so don’t ever fret if that’s all your workout contains. You’ve literally covered the most important exercises if you get these three into your workout.
